Run For Their Future 5K To Inspire Next Generation Of STEM Learners

Proceeds for Girls Love To Code program to instill passion of STEM learning in underrepresented groups
UXBRIDGE, MA — The inaugural Run For Their Future 5K will take place on May 30, 2026 at 12:00 P.M at Uxbridge High School in Uxbridge, MA. Hosted by Children Across America, the charity race will support the organization’s flagship Girls Love To Code program. Participants are invited to run, walk, or attend in support.
The Girls Love To Code program in Milford, MA provides K-5 girls the rare opportunity at hands-on coding, computer literacy, and STEM education experience, all free of charge. In three years of operation, 150 girls have learned critical coding skills at an early age, inspiring a future that reshapes the STEM field into one with more inclusion, diversity, and opportunity for aspiring girls and women.
Recent data from the Society of Women Engineers finds women represent as little as 28 percent of the total U.S. STEM workforce. The disparity is most stark in engineering (15 percent women) and among minority women (10 percent of U.S. STEM workforce).
“Early action makes a huge difference in expanding these girls’ horizons,” said Ray Fellows, Founder and Executive Director of Children Across America. “Gaps in confidence can appear among girls in math and science as early as elementary school. Our program provides a safe space to learn and nurture the next leaders in coding and STEM fields.”
Funds raised for the event will go directly toward updating crrent tech for the Girls Love To Code program, including new laptops and artificial intelligence tools. Proceeds will also help expand the program to more locations across Massachusetts.
Registration is now open for the Run For Their Future 5K on raceentry.com. Runners can also sign-up at childrenacrossamerica.org/get-involved/events/. Individual tickets are $40 per runner, while groups of 5 or more go for $30 per runner. Virtual runners can also register.
